Library and Documentation
Expansion of primary sources and secondary literature and the Vienna Circle and its influence.
Acquisation of estates and archival material in Austria and abroad.
Robert S. Cohen-Collection and Archives: Robert Sonné Cohen (b. 1924) is an American philosopher, scientist and historian of science and philosophy who has been editing the Boston Studies in the Philosophy of Science and organizing the Boston Colloquium for the Philosophy of Science over many decades. The Robert S. Cohen Collection contains correspondence, unpublished and published manuscripts and typescripts, reprints, journal issues, news clippings, photographic prints, sound recordings, memos and notebooks.
A substantial portion of the Robert S. Cohen Collection is being made available for use by educators and researchers at the Institute Vienna Circle as the Robert S. Cohen Archives. The Institute Vienna Circle provides access to full-sized photomechanical reproductions of documents selected from the Collection that offer insight into the development of Logical Positivism.
Adolf Gruenbaum-Archives: A similar acquisation is in preparation with the private archives of Adolf Gruenbaum, one of the greatest of living scientific philosophers, the founder and chair of the Pittsburgh Center for Philosophy of Science.
Eugene T. Gadol-Library: The research library of Eugene T. Gadol has been dedicated to the Institute Vienna Circle in 2002 by his heirs and is available for research.

Moritz Schlick (1882-1936): Critical Edition of the Complete Works and Intellectual Biography
www.univie.ac.at/ivc/Schlick-Projekt
www.moritz-schlick.de
The aim of this project - planned for 10 years, and with a three years start-up phase (2002-2005) funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) - consists of putting together a critical edition of the complete works of Moritz Schlick as well as his intellectual biography. The project is being carried out by the Institute Vienna Circle (Vienna, Austria), the Research and Documentation Center for Austrian Philosophy (Graz, Austria), and the Department for Philosophy at the University of Rostock (Germany). General Editors are Friedrich Stadler (Vienna) and Hans-Jürgen Wendel (Rostock).
In 12 volumes Schlick's published and unpublished writings (including correspondence) will for the first time be accessible in their entirety to a large circle of students and scholars, facilitating thus further research in philosophy of science and closing some big lacunae in this area. - The Volumes I Allgemeine Erkenntnisleher, II Über die Reflexion des Lichtes/Raum und Zeit in der gegenwärtigen Physik, and III Lebensweisheit/Sinn des Lebens/Fragen der Ethik of the edition are currently being prepared for printing and shall be published by Springer: Vienna-New York. Massimo Ferrari's Moritz Schlick: An Intellectual Biography is being prepared in close interaction with the editorial team and - based on sources so far unpublished - intends to shed new light on the life and work of one of the key figures of Logical Empiricism.
